Trade Bead Necklace
Antique trade bead on a sterling chain. Thought to have originated in Bohemia in the 1700's and brought to Russia on wagon trails. Once the Russians obtained them they used them as currency to trade with First Nations People down the coast from Alaska. These beads are found a long beaches of traditional village sites.
I found these beauties from a reputable source in Port Alberni, Vancouver Island. The are museum quality antique blue trade beads. They date them to be from the 1800's. Prices are reflective of the quality of the beads.
